Physical ailments have significantly impacted my social life. Recently, however, I was able to attend three very important events: my friend Kenny’s Second Act party, the legacy Babushka event, and my son and his friend’s EDM show.

What I’ve learned is this: although I can’t attend every activity I’d like to, I can attend some—if I’m intentional and prepared.

Here are a few things that have helped me:

Preparing my outfit the night before Not waiting until the last minute to get dressed Starting early enough to allow for breaks in between Staying only as long as I can comfortably breathe through my mask (I take bronchiectasis seriously and never go anywhere without a mask.)

For my friends who are older or who live with physical challenges—what are some things you do to make it easier to, as the kids say 😂, “be outside”?
